Lawcadia Partners With Leading Not-For-Profit

It was May 2018 and the IACCM Conference was taking place in Brisbane with a breath of attendees from the contract, procurement and legal sectors.

Sacha Kirk, co-founder at Lawcadia, participated in a panel discussion, and afterwards, Daniel Johnston, manager of commercial and legal services at Life Without Barriers, struck up a conversation. This conversation would eventually result in a partnership between Life Without Barriers and Lawcadia to help address some of the frustrations that the leading not-for-profit was experiencing.

Life Without Barriers used (and continues to use) a panel of external legal firms for advice with a decentralised structure for engagements. Duplication of requests and lack of visibility over matters, engagements and legal spend were some of the issues that Daniel was hoping to find a solution to.

Early in 2019, Life Without Barriers started using Lawcadia for all of their law firm engagements, allowing them to get overview across their external matters and legal spend. The team continues to operate a decentralised approach to legal engagements, however through the use of Lawcadia, Daniel is now able to capture accurate and timely data and maintain visibility and oversight.

Daniel Johnston says, “We are now tracking spend and ensuring matters are managed appropriately including clear engagement instructions. This has resulted in reduced cycle time to invoice and payment”.

According to Sacha Kirk, Lawcadia is proud to work with not-for-profit organisations. “We appreciate that the not-for-profit sector has many unique challenges and we try to be flexible and recognise this commercially”.

“Lawcadia has been easy to deal with,  is very responsive to enquiries and training and importantly, they are open to feedback and improvements”, says Daniel Johnston.

The IACCM are this week holding their 2019 conference in Sydney and are hoping to bring about many more similar collaborations between like-minded organisations. You can find out more about their conference here.
