Announcing Legal Procurement Forum APAC

Lawcadia, an Australian legal tech startup and the international legal procurement trade organisation the Buying Legal Council, today announced the Legal Procurement Forum Asia-Pacific, a one-day conference that will be held on 23rd August 2017, hosted by KPMG in Sydney.

Leading experts from London, Vancouver and New York, along with local opinion leaders, will share progressive approaches to legal pricing and spend management along with strategies for managing transformational change faced by the legal departments that are embracing new initiatives.

The focus on legal operations and legal procurement is a new and emerging area in Australia despite its prevalence in North America and Europe over the past five years. The Australian legal community, including in-house legal counsel, providers of legal services, industry consultants and procurement professionals, will gather to listen and learn from a range of opinion leaders and experts, including three visiting from overseas: Richard Burcher: London; Richard Stock: Vancouver; and Dr Silvia Hodges Silverstein: New York.

Richard Burcher, an international legal pricing expert who is based in London and advises top law firms, including Magic Circle firms, will be a keynote speaker on pricing.

Richard Stock, international legal procurement consultant to global multi-national organisations, will be a keynote speaker on change and will share his somewhat controversial approach to performance-based pricing – a very new concept to this region.

Dr Silvia Hodges Silverstein, executive director of the Buying Legal Council, will personally introduce the event and share the latest research on the buying of legal services as well as a vision for the future.

“I am thrilled that KPMG will host the Legal Procurement Forum this year. It is events like this that bring about positive change in the legal industry through sharing of ideas and best practice”, said David Morris, National Partner in Charge at KPMG Law.

Following in the footsteps of the prestigious Buying Legal Council annual conferences in held London and New York, this unique event is a result of a formal collaboration announced earlier this year between Lawcadia and the Buying Legal Council to promote legal procurement in the Asia-Pacific region and support professionals tasked with the buying of legal services.
