Legal Procurement Conference APAC 2018
Legal Procurement Conference APAC 2018

The Legal Procurement Forum toured Australia last week, debuting as the first of its kind in the Asia-Pacific.

The forum was a huge success with 64 attendees across three cities – Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Amongst attendees were representatives from key government agencies and major corporations across industry sectors including insurance, energy and resources, FMCG, retail, property and education.

An impressive list of guest speakers shared their stories and opinions on the current state of the legal industry and future direction.

Dr. Silvia Hodges Silverstein, one of the world’s leading experts on the topic of legal procurement, shared the most recent trends and the impetus behind the growing trend of ‘buying legal’.

Jonathan Benson spoke passionately on legal procurement strategies that he has used over his extensive career as a senior in-house counsel. With much of the discussion under the Chatham House Rules adopted for the event, attendees were provided with a unique insight into Jonathan’s experiences and perspective.

Warwick Walsh from Lawcadia discussed the roles and principles of procurement and shared their strategic approach to legal procurement.

According to Mr Walsh, feedback from attendees has been positive and planning is already underway for the next series of events.

“We want to keep this candid discussion of the legal industry on the agenda. The benefits of adopting best practice principles are far reaching and we’re keen to share learnings for the benefit of the industry.”
